Why have my videos failed?
There are a few reasons why videos can fail to render. Some are easily fixed, whilst others require some investigation from our tech team. Below is a list of all the errors you may encounter.
Website Unrecordable / Validation Error
If you have seen a message saying that the website you have inputted to Pitchlane is unrecordable that means our background recording bot has attempted to record on the website and the website has failed in some way.
In brackets, you will see the error code that explains what the exact error was.
This happens most commonly when uploading large lead lists as some faulty websites often sneak into these large data sets.
Of course, you will never be charged for a failed video. You just need to change the URL to a valid one and it will be retried.
Website Temporarily Unrecordable
If you have seen a message saying that the website you have inputted to Pitchlane is temporarily unrecordable that means our background recording bot has likely been rate limited.
We’ve retried twice now, but by the time you see this, the issue may have been resolved for you to try again.
Of course, you will never be charged for a failed video. You just need to change the URL to a valid one or retry that link.
Website Not Supported
If you have seen a message saying that the website you have inputted to Pitchlane is not supported that means the website owners are actively blocking bots which unfortunately includes our beloved background recording bot.
The team is aware of this issue. We recommend you use a different website for your prospect as this website cannot be reliably recorded.
Of course, you will never be charged for a failed video. You just need to change the URL to a valid one to make a video.
Internal Error
Our website recording bot relies on a variety of different servers to emulate real human scrolling to create your videos. On occasion, one of these may go haywire.
To avoid creating anything but the best videos, Pitchlane’s tech team will proactively verify whether there has been an error and if there is one, we’re likely working on it right now!
If only a small % of videos were not created, it’s likely to do with the websites featured in those websites being faulty. In that case, I’d continue and export all videos into your email tool.
Cookie Error
If your campaign requires cookies to work properly and you know what that cookie is, you can paste it into the box that opens when you click the 'Update Cookies 🍪' button on the failed video.

Restricted/Advanced Website
Looks like you are running a very exciting campaign! If you’ve seen an ‘Advanced Website Detected’ message that means you are using an advanced outreach website. These are the most effective but require custom code for us to facilitate and maintain for you.
You’ll need to upgrade to use this as they cost us more to offer. It’ll be 100% worth it, this will be a great campaign!
