Why does my video have no sound?

If you're experiencing issues with the sound in your Pitchlane video, there could be several reasons why it's not working as expected. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue:

1.) Check your Microphone Settings

Ensure that you have selected the correct input device when recording your Pitchlane video. Sometime the wrong microphone may be chosen which could lead to there being no sound in your video.

2.) Ensure Your Microphone Isn't Muted

Before starting, ensure that your microphone is not muted. You can physically check this by verifying if the mute button is toggled or if the input volume is turned all the way down. Additionally, depending on your operating system, follow these steps to check if the microphone has been muted digitally:

Windows:

  1. Select the Windows icon.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Click on System.
  4. Select Sound.
  5. Under Input, choose Device properties.
  6. Then, under Related Settings, select Additional device properties.
  7. Navigate to the Levels tab. A mute symbol next to the audio icon indicates that the volume is muted.

Mac:

  1. Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of your screen.
  2. Select System Preferences and go to Sound.
  3. Locate the Input tab and click on it.
  4. If your microphone is not selected as default, choose it and ensure there’s a checkmark next to it.
  5. Adjust the volume by moving the Input volume slider.
  6. To test the microphone, monitor the Input level indicator—it should move when there are sounds in the environment, such as talking or music.

3.) Browser Permissions

Ensure that you have granted the necessary permissions for microphone access in your browser settings. Without the proper permissions, your browser may not be able to capture audio.

4.) Device Volume

Check the volume settings on your device to ensure that the audio output is not muted or set to a very low level. Adjust the volume settings as needed to ensure sound output is enabled.

5.) Restart Device

Sometimes, a simple restart of your device can resolve software glitches or temporary issues that may be causing the sound problem.
